Boundaries arenot rules

…don’t get me wrong. I’m not glorifying single parenting. This was not the plan and I do still very much desire and see the benefit of a 2 parent home. But I’m accepting that I don’t NEED it in order to show my kids what healthy looks like.

When you’re jumping to conclusions before asking questions… “let me try that again.” When you led with sarcasm instead of assertiveness… “let me try that again” When “who do you think you’re talking to, I’m not the one” rolled off your tongue EFFORTLESSLY… “let me try that again” “Let me try that again” gives you permission to make mistakes WITHOUT the shame that makes you either escalate or retreat without setting the expectation, boundary or standard. It lets you show up to parenting understanding that while you’re healing, you can still have a script and system that allows you to more easily return to integrity and create positive moments after mistakes. These kinds repetitious scripts are a path of least resistance. They build my awareness and accountability muscles💪🏾 . I don’t have to turn it into a huge moment, I don’t have to come up with some creative “fix” or walk away and go regulate. I can say the same thing I said last time and signal my brain to DO IT OVER.

It’s hard because it’s hard... because you’re not ignoring survival anymore. And if you’ve never given yourself an opportunity to experience survival… it will feel worse like life is worse now than it was when you were numbing your pain. Move through it. ❤️ don’t reach for the pattern… reach for your power.

The sun literally came out 😩😭 COME ON NOW!! I love yal. Thank yal. I’m overwhelmed. I feel immense gratitude and I can’t quite explain what the gifts and messages have meant. I can’t wait to share more about what’s up next for me and this community but what I can say is that I started this journey because I have a heart for parents and the past few months, though difficult, have shaped that empathy and connection in even deeper ways than I could have imagined.
