And I’d do this without: ❌ going to the gym  ❌ spending hours doing boring cardio  ❌ saving 1,000 YouTube workout playlists only for them to collect dust on my phone  . Here’s what I’d do instead:  👉🏾 2-3 strength workouts a week (30 minutes) . To get those “Angela Basset arms”, you need to add strength exercises to your routine. 💪🏾 . The more muscle you have, the more fat you’ll burn just by sitting here and reading this post 😎🔥 . I’d do at least one lower body and one upper body strength workout consistently to make losing body fat and keeping it off a lot easier 💪🏾 . 👉🏾 1-2 cardio workouts a week (30 minutes)  . Cardio is great for your heart and helping you burn more calories— but doing cardio you hate is why you can’t stay consistent 😬 . Stop thinking that the treadmill or stairmaster is better for burning fat.  . I lost 30 lbs mostly doing DANCE workouts in my living room🥳💃🏾 . Find the cardio you enjoy the most and stick to it! . 👉🏾 A 20-minute walk as many days as you can . This can be a game changer especially if you feel like you’ve hit a plateau with your fitness . Staying active outside your workouts is great for overall health and will help you see better results even faster  . This plan combined with proper nutrition is going to have you feeling confident enough to rock a bathing suit like you’re ✨that girl✨ for your next vacation. 🥳 . Instead focus on: ✨ Adding the right combination of workouts to help you burn calories and tone the areas you want to target ✨ Workouts that are focused and intentional so you get more bang for your buck in less time ✨ Making your fitness routine fun and enjoyable so you can stay consistent ✨ Adding in more movement outside of exercise to help you stay active  And this is coming from someone who’s lost 30 lbs doing 30 minute dance workouts a few times a week 🙌🏾 The majority of my workouts [now] are 30 minutes or less  Knowing which workouts to include in your plan and staying consistent each week will take you so much farther than working out more because you think you have to 😉💜

Your fitness watch isn’t accurate and is over-estimate how much you’re burning. Plus it would take you so long to burn the calories you think you need to burn and I know you ain’t got time for all of that 😄 . Instead use your workouts to help stay active, boost your heart health, and get stronger. And have FUN!  . 👉🏾 Working out too much  You don’t have to workout for hours everyday to reach your body goals! You can put unnecessary stress on your body and risk of injuring yourself (not cute!) 30-40 minutes a few times a week with rest days will do wonders . 👉🏾 Thinking cardio will help you “tone” If your goal is to lose a little bit of weight and “tone up”, then don’t rely on cardio alone to help you do that. You need to make sure you include workouts/ or exercises that help you get stronger, too!  . 👉🏾 Not having a clear plan  Going in and “winging it” every week is why you start every Monday and give up by Thursday. The more clarity you have, the more action you’ll take and the more consistent you’ll be. Make sure you have a structured plan you can follow to help you stay on track!

I ditched the boring cardio and switched to dance workouts to help me burn more calories. I also added fun strength workouts to my routine to help me “tone” and shape my body. Doing this made exercise feel like less of chose which made it easier for me to stay consistent.   👉🏾 I added more activity to my day by increasing my steps, so I wouldn’t have to eat less or force myself to swallow bland celery sticks everyday. This helped eat more without stressing about gaining all my weight back.🕺🏾 👉🏾 I chose to show up even when I didn’t “feel like it”, instead of waiting for motivation. Consistent action is the only way you’re going to see results. I practiced choosing myself and my goals over my feelings. Your goals are too important for you to keep putting them off until “next Monday or next New Years” Losing weight is already a challenge, so if you keep doing things that make you absolutely miserable, you won't stick to it. If you want to stop the mad dash 🏃🏾‍♀️💨 to lose weight every summer and feel good in your body all year long, it’s time to start adding what you ENJOY to your routine. But I didn’t want to just lose weight — I also wanted to feel strong and toned when I looked in the mirror  I started adding arm workouts to my routine and it completely changed the shape of my body  . That’s because a “toned” upper body will make your waist look smaller in comparison [it's all about your proportions, baby] 😉👙 . But walking around confused at the gym and doing a couple of curls aint gon’ cut it 😄 . That’s why I created this 15 minute routine to make arm day hella fun and help you shape your curves at home . All you need is a towel or t-shirt to warm up and some medium dumbbells [or whatever you have at home].  .
