His work is informed by societies’ trends and incongruities. He translates what he sees through the lens into wit, criticism and humorous vignettes to convey a distinct point of view. He attributes his unique vision to his Glasgow up-bring, which has shaped his what is often described as his 'visually exaggerated' and 'hard-edged' style.

The Hong Kong-based photographer who made his work more than five decades ago transcends the “street photographer” label. Take any one element from any of his photos – subject, environment, light, composition – they’re all perfect individually. Put them together and you find images that are instantly recognizable as masterworks of Fan Ho. #arttok #contemporaryart #photography #streetphotography

A post by @modernartcatalogue on TikTok caption: Wing Shya made his name shooting on Wong Kar Wai’s sets as the legendary Chinese filmmaker’s exclusive photographer. Shya is a master of creating still photographs with characters who feel plucked from feature-length films. For years Wing caught the essential cool & moody aesthetic of Wong’s sublime scenes in his most moving work. He specialized in tender, telling footage of the late golden era of Hong Kong.

A post by @modernartcatalogue on TikTok caption: From the “Obscura Series”, Mederos creates something new, a photorealistic abstraction. The bubble wrap reflects light and distorts the underlying image, it is only at a distance that the works come into focus, when viewed up close the faces dissolve into bold strokes of flesh tones and painted light. The artist challenges the viewer with the series in asking us to understand the core of human identity, from a respectful distance.

Everything is created at the 250000sqm Chrome Hearts headquarters spred across three blocks in Hollywood. It includes a fully equipped furniture workshop, gold and silver smithing station and a printing station, basically everything they need to make whatever they want. #chromehearts

A post by @modernartcatalogue on TikTok caption: This apartment designed by Angelo de Taisne is more than bright, it is sunny - and, in the middle of Paris, somehow Mediterranean. It was important for the owners to create a space that reflected their roots from the south and east of France. They guided the architect on materials that are less luxurious, but all the warmer structures and tactile materials that are processed by hand #interiordesign

A post by @modernartcatalogue on TikTok caption: In 1978, a Fort Worth museum convinced the famed 55-year-old photographer Richard Avedon to document the West, as he saw it. At the time, it was a sentimental and well-worn vision that defined the West: rugged cowboys, sweeping pastoral beauty, the triumphalist, freedom-loving heart of America itself. The idea presented to Mr. Avedon: Find something new.

A post by @modernartcatalogue on TikTok caption: Before Stanley Kubrick directed arguably some of the best movies ever made, he was a simple teenager in New York looking for a job. But even then, when the 17-year-old got his hands on a photo camera, he couldn't hide the talent within. During that time Stanley got many insights into what makes a photograph work: "I think aesthetically recording spontaneous action, rather than carefully posing a picture, is the most valid and expressive use of photography." He quickly made a name for himself by telling stories through photos, which eventually led him to moving pictures and his place in the filmmakers' hall of fame. #stanleykubrick
