Once children know the sounds, a next step for them is building their reading fluency. You can follow these steps: 1. Read words aloud with the sounds they know using sound buttons 2. Read words in their head using the sound buttons 3. Practise these words by sight to boost reading fluency. So, go, no have the tricky letter ‘o’ for children. It makes the long o sound (not the short sound). It has been coloured red to support the students. These words are commonly occurring in children’s stories so getting your child to read these by sight will support their reading fluency. Lots of quick recall (like shown in this video) is very supportive to building this fluency.
