Barkley was our very first rescue from California, and he was treated to a private 1,800-mile road trip straight into the arms of his new forever family. After spending a week with us, experiencing all the new smells, sounds, and food he could take in, he walked into his new home without a backward glance. He didn’t even bother with a goodbye - but that's how you know he was home. He is still out there… the TX heat is coming and I cannot bear to think he will suffer on these streets until the day he dies. Will he ever know love? Will he ever know a cool home and a soft bed? A pup cup. Soft words that tell him how beautiful he is and he never deserved this. I cannot help him and it crushes me to my core. I’m crazy alright, but the dogs benefit from it. After months of working on this, I finally rescued most dogs from Billy’s Street (with a phenomenal team I will write about soon) so I decided to record my hello and goodbye to a few of them (too much to explain at this time). Some of the dogs here I’d never met, but Bugsy and Solo have been my buddies since October and it was such a rewarding feeling to see them all so calm and peaceful. No one ever adopted Valten, but he was loved by us nonetheless. With no one willing or able to foster Val, he spent most of his time in boarding. A sad reality for some dogs - not all have happy endings. The incredible foster that held Whitey as she passed brought him home for the night to give him “all the meats” before he departs this lonely and unfair world, as he knew it. Our intake is closed while we work to adopt out dogs and replenish funds, but I wanted to share this request from a Warren Ark Animal Shelter in Warrenton, NC. These dogs look so sweet and deserving. While there is no deadline yet, this shelter does have to euthanize for space, so urgency is given. Hi, Jennifer, we have a few dogs in desperate need of rescue. Please let me know if you would be able to help. These poor dogs were rescued from an extremely bad situation. It's a mom around 4 years old and her two babies around 9 months. They are currently rescue only. They were all kept in an inhumane matter where they came from. We received a report, and the officers found the two puppies crammed into one crate, with no food, water, or protection from the elements. Mom stayed by their side. The owner surrendered them to us upon request. Poor souls spent most of the life crammed into a wire crate together. Their living conditions were horrible. Mom's doing better than expected, but the babies are terrified. I'm hoping you will be able to give them the second chance at life that they deserve. #shelterdogs

It's Gotcha Monday! Today we are celebrating the dogs that were adopted before May 15th! Congratulations to Mela, Trooper, Luna, Patricia, Copper, Cobalt, Ginny, Freya, Titan, Lady, River, and Callie on finding their forever families! We appreciate everyone's patience while we reorganize, we know that Gotcha Monday was always a much-anticipated video to show our dogs with their families. To highlight some of the dogs in this video: Trooper is a gorgeous Shepherd who was pulled from Berkeley County, WV after animal control picked him up and it appeared as though he had been hit by a vehicle. He had broken bones in his legs/feet and his hips were badly messed up. Luckily he has made great rehabilitation progress and was adopted by his foster. Freya is a sweet young shepherd who struggled to find the right fit, she was returned after a failed placement and luckily found her way into a home that could fit her needs! River is a sweet boy who struggled with new people and underwent a board and train program to help him to better adjust to life so he could be adopted.

LUNA MAY BE IN DANGER LUNA (formerly known as Spazzy Jazzy) was attacked by a dog on Friday, May 3, and escaped from her owners, running half a mile back to their house. When she arrived, a white Ford F-150 single cab pickup truck pulled up, and a man got out, calling her over. He seemed to be looking at her collar for tags before putting her in his truck. We initially hoped he had good intentions and was trying to keep her safe, but the owners have now received new Ring footage from a neighbor showing him speeding through the neighborhood, flying over a speed bump, and running stop signs, yelling, and hitting the side of his truck with his hand. They missed finding Luna by two minutes when they returned home, and we are all very scared for her safety. Her life may be in danger, and we need immediate assistance in identifying this man.
