Hi everyone! 🌟 I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share my journey with you. I grew up in Daly City, CA, in a small apartment on the 3rd floor. When I was 6 My mom started to work her magic on hair, nails, and makeup in a little corner of our apartment. She had a way of making every woman feel comfortable and confident, even though she didn’t speak English, coming from nothing, and that inspired me deeply. When I turned 15, my mom had to focus on taking care of my two year old brother and couldn’t work as much anymore. She had built a loyal clientele, but when we moved to Tracy in 2018 she had to leave all her clients behind and start over in a place where we only had a few relatives and didn’t know anyone else. Around that same year, I had my quinceañera and was gifted a ton of makeup palettes , makeup brushes and lashes from my parents and aunts in the same beauty industry. I started experimenting with it, practicing on myself, and eventually created an Instagram account to showcase my makeup looks. I kept practicing on myself until people from Daly City started asking me to do their makeup for special occasions. They would drive an hour just to have me do their makeup—and even tipped me! That’s when it clicked: I could turn this into something more. I started promoting my small business everywhere—through school, social media, and word of mouth. When COVID hit, like everyone else, I turned to TikTok. Some of my videos blew up, which gave me the confidence to keep going. Now, my mom focuses on hairstyling for events, my little sister does nails, and I specialize in makeup! Together, with the support of my dad, we’ve turned part of our home into a small salon studio, offering our clients a more professional and private experience. Today, I am 21, I’m proud to say I’m graduating from San Joaquin Delta College with associate degrees in Business Administration and Arts & Humanities. Next week, I’ll be starting cosmetology school at California Beauty College in Modesto, working toward my dream of graduating, opening my own salon one day and providing new services as well. To any girls out there who dream of starting their own beauty business: never stop believing in yourself. Practice, promote yourself, and be patient—every step counts, no matter how small. Don’t be afraid to start where you are, even if it’s just a corner of your home. Your passion and hard work will take you places you can’t even imagine. Keep chasing your dreams—you’ve got this! Thank you for being a part of my journey!
