To complete a 5K race with @elitefeats—walking, of course—after being diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary embolism 🫁 (blood clots in both lungs) is absolutely wild. Finishing in record time? Even crazier. Let me tell you—bilateral pulmonary embolisms are no joke. They’re fatal for so many people who don’t catch them in time, and recovery isn’t quick. I’m in a support group where people say it takes at least a year to start feeling like yourself again. With my week off from work and school, I promised myself I’d hit the gym daily—but walking outside, in the elements, is a whole different beast. I pushed through and felt good, but let’s just say the coughing fit afterward was real. 😅 Oh—and I managed to record 4 jump rope videos! 🎥🔥 I can’t stop thinking about how grateful I am that I listened to my body that day—October 11th—and went to the ER. Even though I didn’t show the typical symptoms, I just knew something wasn’t right. Truthfully, I was minutes away from popping some pain meds and sleeping it off because I didn’t want to miss my son’s football game on October 12th. But here I am—alive, walking, jumping rope, and finishing races. 🙌 Today was a good day. This year was a great year. And I’m stepping into the New Year excited for bigger goals, bigger challenges, and even bigger wins. 💪✨ Happy New Year! 🎉💥 #BilateralPulmonaryEmbolismSurvivor #PEAwareness #GratefulHeart #EliteFeats5K #SurvivorStrong #WomenOver40 #JumpRopeIsDope #HealthAndWellnessJourney #KeepGoingQueen #NewYearNewGoals #MindAndBodyStrength #WalkingForHealth #PushingThrough #NeverGiveUp #CelebrateEveryWin #MakeItFunNYC
