#AccessToCare emphasizes equitable healthcare for all, highlighting barriers, promoting advocacy, and fostering community support. It seeks to raise awareness of disparities, ensuring everyone receives necessary medical attention and resources.
We are facing the unthinkable—forced into a situation no family should ever have to endure, just to get our child the life-saving care they so desperately need. Our child’s mental health challenges require deep, intensive, long-term treatment—far beyond what therapy or outpatient care can provide. But instead of being supported, we’ve been met with a system that forces families like ours into impossible choices. Right now, we’re being told that the only way to get our child the care they need is to relinquish our parental rights to DHS. Imagine that. To save our child, we have to give them up. This is not just heartbreaking—it’s wrong. It’s a failure of the system meant to protect and support families. Mental health care should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford it. In this country, it feels like you have to be rich to get the care your child deserves. On top of this, we now find ourselves needing legal counsel to fight this injustice and to ensure our child gets the care they actually need—not through a broken, bureaucratic system, but in a way that respects their dignity and our family. We’re sharing this because we know we are not alone. This fight is not just for our family—it’s for every family navigating a system that prioritizes paperwork over people, money over mental health. We shouldn’t have to choose between our rights as parents and our child’s life. If anyone has advice, resources, or suggestions, we are open to hearing them. We need help—legal, emotional, and systemic. This is a battle we never thought we’d have to fight, but here we are. #MentalHealthMatters #FamilyAdvocacy #SystemReform #AccessToCare #ParentsFightBack

Replying to @jade ;) (Taylor's Version) As someone who really values patients’ access to care and autonomy, I truly personally believe that last resorts are unfortunately rarely used when actually indicated/when they actually should be. This /medical gaslighting and negligence is more likely to happen in BIPOC, women, people with co-existing mental illness, and more. This is why I am so passionate about this topic and similar patient advocacy-related topics! #disabilityadvocate #accesstocare #womenshealthcare #centralvenouscatheter #patientadvocate #informedcare #qualityoflifematters #ivfluids #dysautonomia #dysautonomiaawareness
