Primary sources abound in this text, and Howard himself remarks on the fact that bias is unavoidable in history. One must choose which information to fit into a book because it cannot be infinitely long. His bias is that he wanted to deliver the history of the people who faced the impacts of the policies and actions of governments and states. That is a noble cause in my opinion. And no “debunking” I’ve read has given me compelling reason to put down this book. They’re all just a bunch of hurt people who refuse to face their cognitive dissonance. I’m not that weak. Anyone lobbing “biased” as a criticism of the work clearly do not understand what bias is, how it works, and how unavoidable it truly is. We all have choices to make. I find Zinn’s admirable. He knew he would face rampant criticism and did it anyway.
