Zip ties are kind of incredible.

Video description: Chris wearing a hat and hoodie showing off a zip tie loop on his gym bag zipper and a tab of Velcro attached to the front of his lap top where it opens.

Transcript: Hey guys Chris here to share some quick fabrication hacks that I use on the daily. I added a simple zip tie to my gym bag and it gives me easy access to the zipper to close my bag more freely. Adding Velcro tabs to your lab to help you open your lap top cause at tomes I struggle with that. That just made my life that much easier. So hopefully it can make yours easier also.

Would this help you or someone you know?   Video description: A close up video of a person’s hands using a green 3d printed nail clipping device.   Transcript: Are you struggling to clip your nails with one hand? The flipper clipper is here to help. This 3D printed assistive device flips open to hold a standard nail clipper. This device, designed by the Makers Making Change community, helps people with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities that affect hand dexterity and strength. It might also help someone with one hand or use of only one hand. You can check out this design at makersmakingchange.com and print it yourself or get someone to print it for you.   #Disability #Disabled #Makers #3DPrint #3DPrinting #3DPrinted #MakersMakingChange #Accessibility #Accessible #Access #AssistiveTech #AssistiveTechnology #AT #OccupationalTherapy #OT #OccupationalTherapist

This tool has been a game changer for my dyslexic son, diagnosed in 2nd grade and now thriving as a college junior. It transcribes, summarizes, organizes next steps, and even creates mindmaps. Whether for school or business, it’s the ultimate productivity hack! 💡📚 #dyslexia #dyslexic #productivityhack #notetaker #plaud #voicerecorder #transcription #collegehacks #assistivetechnology #learningtools

Why buy when you can build? AT Champion Schuyler shows how she made an iPad stand with Legos and an old typewriter. Creating your own assistive tech allows you to design a device that perfectly fits your unique needs. We hope this inspires you to create your own assistive tools! Transcript: We had an old lego set typewriter. It was an interesting typewriter and it was avocado green. We took it apart and used the pieces to turn it into a stand for my iPad. We used the letters from the typewriter to spell my name. We adjust the angle by adding or taking away pieces. I added something fun like little stars. Thank you for watching my video! NOT MEDICAL ADVICE!! ask your doctor before doing anything you find on tiktok! my TENS unit is the comfytemp K6114. the walgreens one was also good but it is not wireless. VD: Levi waves. They are an ivory skinned person with a wavy dark brown and blue mullet. Text: set up my wireless TENS unit with me! my setup requires: alcohol wipes, tape, electrodes, the TENS device itself. Levi points to every item laid across their bed. They scrub their thighs with an alcohol wipe. Text: first, i clean my skin with alcohol wipes. this is to rid my skin of oils to preserve the electrodes, NOT to make my skin sterile. if you have to sterilize your skin, wipe in one direction, not like how i’m doing here. Next, Levi shows a pair of electrodes stuck to their thigh with a wire connecting them. The wire is taped down to their skin with a sliver of black kinesio tape. Text: “wireless” really only means “minimal wires” LOL. The camera pans over to their other thigh, which is bare, but only until the video transitions to the same thigh now adhered with electrodes and tape. Text: now we can attach the host devices! Levi holds a small square device with a button in the center and snaps it onto an electrode via magnetic closure. Text: these will receive the signal from my remote to start sending electrical signals in order to block pain signals… or to just distract me from them. Levi presses buttons to start the TENS unit. Text: my TENS unit mostly distracts me from pain by giving me a different stimulus in my painful places and this helps me live my life more fully!. Next, Levi is shown posing in their wheelchair at a concert venue. Text: pros of TENS: drug free pain relief! can be bought both OTC or by RX. can work for different types of pain, not strictly neuropathic, nociceptive, etc. cons of TENS: can trigger spasms. does not address every type of pain for everyone. cannot be used on front of neck or directly on spine. needs clearance by neurologist if you’re epileptic. Levi charges at the camera in their wheelchair. There is hard motion blur. End VD. #ChronicPain #TENSTherapy #TENSUnit #AssistiveTechnology #MedicalDevice #ComplexRegionalPainSyndrome #CRPS #AmplifiedMusculoskeletalPainSyndrome #AMPS #HypermobilitySpectrumDisorder #HSD #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #EhlersDanlos #PeripheralNeuropathy #SmallFiberNeuropathy #Polyneuropathy #NerveDamage #NerveDysfunction #NociceptivePain #NeuropathicPain #NociplasticPain #CentralSensitization #DesensitizationTherapy

We're on a mission to make the Earring Aid even better! 💪 Our Illinois makers program tweaked the design to bring the prongs closer together, but we're not quite there yet. 🤔 That's where YOU come in! A friendly face from the Western Wisconsin Center for Independent Living used the 3D printed file our makers program created to print a customized Earring Aid for a happy customer. 😄 We'd love to see more of this! Do you have a 3D printer and a knack for innovation? Download the Earring Aid STL file on Thingiverse so you can tinker and create your own improvements! Let's work together to make the Earring Aid the best it can be. #Lifehacks #AssistiveTechnology #ILMade #3Dprinting #makers #adls
