the worst thing about having RSD is knowing you’re overreacting and still not being able ✨to not overreact✨😅 I know a lot of neurodivergent folks can relate but I will share some blunt words my therapist told me a few years ago in case they help you too: simply, not everything someone does, even if they’re a big part in your life, has anything to do with you. You never know what someone is going through or choosing not to share with you. They may do things that feel like they are directly designed to hurt you, when they may just be a result of other actions they had to take for another, unrelated but important reason. Your feelings may be valid, but that doesn’t mean they accurately reflect the other person’s actions or intentions. Have you tried asking for clarification or expressing that you’re feeling hurt? 9/10 times, it isn’t personal. But a reminder that while you don’t always get to choose how you feel, you can choose how to act on your feelings! That being said, I genuinely do try to not take things personally, but I never forget when someone does actually hurt me! 💚
