Here’s how to prevent this at home (and what we always *try* to follow): once your child is able to stand / pull to standing, they can reach that table, but can’t see what’s up there: - Stop using placemats or tablecloths - anything they can reach up and blindly grab (that will pull heavier items with it) - Don’t leave heavy items ON the table (like glasses, plates, metal salt/pepper shakers) - Teach any one else in the family to also look for this! We are now MUCH more serious about making sure that each of our kiddos clear their own spot, including all plates, glasses, and silverware, before they leave the table. - As an aside, when you have broken glass, pick up ALL of it. Our ER took care of a young baby who had swallowed a piece of broken glass (don’t ask why when it comes to toddlers). The parents thought they had swept it all up, but the little girl found pieces they had missed, swallowed it, and it caused SO much internal damage. Be meticulous when picking up broken glass around littles! Have you had this happen? Or do you have any tips for how you’ve solved for this in YOUR home? Please share!!
