Can’t leave 2024 behind without resharing one of my favorite remixes with play_spark on IG 😍 (also go check out their amazing clothing) 🚗It.doesn’t.have.to.be.complicated! 🤓Here’s the science behind the cuteness: 😊Babies and toddlers learn from repetition. They love routines (we speech therapists call them “verbal routines”). 🤔 When we do and say the same thing, the same way, over and over again, they start to expect what’s coming next. Even better if it’s paired with: 💃1-movement 🥰2-big emotion, like LOVE, surprise, or excitement Eventually, they anticipate what’s next so much… 👏 That they join in! (don’t forget to pause and give them a chance to do it!) This is imitation, and it’s one way children learn new gestures, sounds, and words. (If you want my 5 best imitation tips comment “imitation tips,” and I’ll DM you the way to get them!) Other verbal routines are: Ready, set go! Peek-a-boo! Uh oh when something falls 1-2-3, go! How big is Max? ANY song or rhyme. Anything like this that you’ve totally made up in your family! What are your verbal routines?
