Back Carrying Basics | How do I safely get them on my back? While many confident and experienced babywearers get to a point where they are comfortable with quickly and easily moving baby from front to back (just look at the ease many from traditional babywearing cultures have) - The reality is many first time parents have zero experience and feel stressed out about the idea. If you're in that camp of feeling some anxiety around it- know that you're normal and it's probably very good. Getting over confident without experience isn't usually a key for taking your time and being aware of what's going on. Anytime you are moving your baby onto your back in the beginning, I would highly recommend doing it in a space where you can fully concentrate on the task. It's not one of those skills I would practice the first time while you have a toddler racing around and are trying to rush out the door. Most accidents happen when we are distracted- so taking a moment for distraction free learning is incredibly helpful. You can also practice down on your knees over a soft surface (bed, carpet, mat, etc.) Using this method that I show in the video is helpful to keep baby fully secured in the carrier which is great for babies that are really wiggly, when they are already on front, or beginners gaining confidence. To start, I'm just going to say use manufacturer recommendations for your specific carrier (you can find this in the carrier manual often or by messaging the brand's customer service.) But- we'll get more into the details next which can differ by carrier type, wearer experience, etc. @love_radius carrier
