In 2022 my debut solo (in name only —we all know it takes a whole #rainbowcoalition) album #outsidechild won at the @The JUNO Awards for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year. I was the first Black Canadian artist of any gender to win in that Category, which I spoke about briefly during our #tinydesk concert filmed shortly thereafter. First but not last. It brings me deep joy to see this year’s nominees include my beloved chosen sister and fellow Grenadian Canadian Banjo playing Montrealaise Artist @Kaïa Kater ‘s brilliant new album #strangemedicine and my beloved chosen brother @JulianTaylor ’s new album #pathways I was privileged to get to collab on both of their new records.
