Three things my sessions will never be about: 🙅🏾♀️ Control 🙅🏾♀️ Compliance 🙅🏾♀️ Discipline It’s literally not my job to control a child’s behavior. Can communication, connection, and sensory regulation change the way a child is behaving? Absolutely! But that means regardless, my MAIN priorities of connection and language facilitation do not change. As much as we love these kids they are not OURS and we are not responsible for who they are or how they behave. We’re responsible for language development! Letting kids lead takes the pressure off of both of you. Imagine going into a session not caring about if they’re going to follow the specific instructions required for the activity you have planned. It’s honestly freeing!! Of course behaviors may arise that are disruptive, or just not what we are expecting in our sessions and that’s okay. Addressing behaviors is very different than shifting to discipline, shame, or control. More on how I address behaviors coming soon!
