We are “supposed” to feel safe, happy, and comforted by the family around us. But what if we’ve experienced trauma? What if we have had a death in the family? Neuroplasticity is the term used to describe the brain's ability to change structurally and functionally based on personal experience and use. Most of us have heard the saying, “Neurons that fire together, wire together.”🧠⚡️ This is the basic concept of neuroplasticity. 👉When two neurons work together and produce an impulse in the brain simultaneously, their cortical maps will become a neural network. 👉This idea also works in the opposite way—neurons that do not work together to produce simultaneous impulses in the brain will stop communicating and form different connections. You might be surprised to learn that you’ve been incorporating neuroplasticity into your daily life all along. How?  📌Driving from your home to your workplace can be done without thinking about where you’re going. 📌Completing your morning routine (teeth brushing, coffee making) is habitual behavior, which requires very little thought. You’re on autopilot many times throughout the day. Your brain uses this “autopilot” function to free up space in your brain for other information. In the case of chronic physical symptoms, the brain makes maladaptive changes to its wiring that don’t allow you to tune out the pain, but rather cause you to focus on it. Fortunately, it turns out that you can teach an old dog (brain) new tricks Have you been diagnosed with a chronic illness and aren’t seeing any changes to your physical symptoms despite all the treatments you have tried?
