⚠️There are some serious repercussions to this surgery that no one talks about. ⁉️After having my bilateral oophorectomy (removal of both ovaries) I started experiencing very sudden and unpleasant changes and symptoms that can occur when vital hormones like estrogen, progesterone & testosterone are drastically reduced in the body. 📌Here are 5 holistic approaches I’m currently practicing to rebalance my hormones: 📌Optimizing Nutrition 📍Including foods like legumes, garlic, and apples, which mimic the effects of estrogen in the body. 📍Healthy fats: Incorporating omega-3-rich foods (salmon, chia seeds, walnuts) to support hormone production. 📍Blood sugar balance: Eating a balanced diet with lean proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats to prevent insulin spikes, which can disrupt hormones. 📍Micronutrient support: Focusing on magnesium, zinc, B vitamins, and vitamin D, which play critical roles in Hormonal health. 📌Manage Stress 📍Practicing mindfulness: Techniques like meditation or deep breathing can reduce cortisol. 📍Gentle exercising : Yoga, or walking supports hormonal balance without overloading the body. 📍Sleep hygiene: Prioritizing 7-8 hours of quality sleep to regulate cortisol and melatonin. 📌Strengthening Gut Health: 📍Eating pre-biotic (fiber) & probiotic foods: Including foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, and yogurt. 📌Weight-bearing exercises: 📍These exercises help maintain bone density, reducing the risk of Osteoporosis. 📍Moderate, consistent weight-bearing exercise helps lower cortisol and its negative effects on hormones. 📍Releases endorphins and boosts serotonin and dopamine, which help combat menopause-related mood swings, anxiety, and depression. 📍Weight-bearing exercises improve insulin sensitivity and promote hormonal balance. 📌I am also currently exploring Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Consult with your physician to see if this is an option for you. Have you ever had an oophorectomy? What are your menopausal symptoms like?
