What I did … 👇 At 5 weeks postpartum, I was told my baby was no longer gaining weight and I needed to start formula right away. But I wasn’t ready to give up on my breastfeeding journey so easily … 🥺 Per the doctor’s advice, I started bottle feeding formula in addition to nursing, however I could tell my milk supply was dwindling. At 6 weeks postpartum, I tried pumping for the first time and got only drops. I knew there had to be an answer to why my milk supply didn’t come in and a way to increase it. I started to research and try everything I could to boost my milk supply with pumping. Over the next 2 months, I increased my supply from a few oz a day to over 50 oz a day 🍼🤯 This is what worked: 👇 1️⃣ Power Pumping: I dedicated 1-2 sessions a day to mimic cluster feeding and signal my body to produce more milk. 2️⃣ Flange Fit: I measured myself to ensure I was using the correct flange size—game-changer for output and comfort. Use a cushion if you are in between sizes. 3️⃣ Hydration & Nutrition: I focused on staying hydrated and eating nutrient-dense foods. Oats, flaxseed, and brewer’s yeast plus my prenatal vitamin became my staples. 4️⃣ Consistent Pumping Schedule: I pumped every 2-3 hours during the day and at least once overnight to keep demand high. I had to feed my baby every 2-3 hours anyways to help with weight gain so I would feed & pump at the same time. ✅ follow for more! 👯‍♀️ #postpartum #happypumpingwithhelen #pumpingmom #newmomtips #increasemilksupply #boostmilksupply #breastfeedingmom #breastfeedingjouney #milksupplyissues
