Frankly i’m tired of hearing people say … “I just want to tone” or “I just want to look toned”  All “toned” means is essentially looking lean and muscular but not bulky.  In order to “tone”, you need to build muscle and decrease your body fat percentage.  Contrary to popular belief, lifting low weights and high reps WILL NOT make you toned.  Building muscle and toning are the SAME EXACT thing.  In order to do both, you need to practice progressive overload.  Meaning you should constantly be increasing either the weight, reps or sets in your workout.  Things that will NOT help you “tone” are: ❌ Switching up your workouts constantly ❌ Doing a lot of cardio or HIIT classes ❌ Never increasing your weights ❌ Only doing low weights and high reps ❌ ALWAYS being in a caloric deficit Things that WILL help you “tone” are :  ✅ Following a structured program long term ✅ Prioritizing strength training over cardio ✅ Focusing on progressive overload ✅ Having a mix of both high rep ranges & low rep ranges ✅ Using food as fuel Building muscle will not make you look bulky.  What WILL make you bulky is having excess fat.  If you want to tone, focus on building muscle, and decreasing body fat.
