🌹Cal Poly University students from both the San Luis Obispo and and Pomona campuses have selected our song, “New Horizons” from nearly 50 contenders to accompany their float this year, which has a Scottish Highland theme, featuring Nessie (the Loch Ness Monster) and friends having the “Best Day Ever.” We’re honored to be chosen by the student team and can’t wait to tune in and watch Nessie float along to New Horizons on Colorado Boulevard! For those who don’t know what the Rose Parade is all about, it’s a nationally televised event on January 1st ( New Year’s Day) associated with one of six major games (the Rose Bowl) in American college football, but equally famous for the ingenious televised parade floats decorated in real flower petals created by different universities. More from Pasadena Now: Cal Poly Rose Float will debut an ambitious technological upgrade to their Rose Parade float on New Year’s Day, featuring a 21-foot-tall Loch Ness Monster powered by advanced animation systems. The float, titled “Nessie’s Lakeside Laughs,” represents the latest innovation from the only student-built entry in the Tournament of Roses Parade, following their 2024 Crown City Innovator Award victory. The 55-foot-long creation synchronizes Nessie’s movements with lights and recorded music titled “New Horizons,” performed by The Gothard Sisters, demonstrating the universities’ commitment to pushing technical boundaries.
