WHAT IS THE SIN OF EMPATHY? I don’t think most Americans realize that when evangelical MAGA calls out “the sin of empathy,” it’s an internal dogwhistle to MAGA/MAHA mothers to hold the line. When outsiders expect evangelical MAGA/MAHA Christians to empathize with hurting children, because of their faith in Jesus, they feel pressured to change their minds. But this expectation is reasonable. Jesus taught compassion. They claim to follow Jesus. They know faith without action is dead.
