The original, screen-used K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider! 🤩🙌 On display here at the Marconi Museum — This is the #1 car of 5 surviving screen-used Knight Rider cars from the show. This K.I.T.T. was used in all 4 seasons, however it is most known for its time as the “Hero Car” in Season’s 1 & 2 — The term “Hero Car” was used to describe the most presentable car that would be shown in the majority of scenes throughout the filming. However, at the start of Season 3, it would be fully converted for its new role as the “Right-Hand Blind Drive” car — To pull this off the dashboard had to be removed in order to fit a stunt wheel along with a secondary throttle and brake pedal to mirror the controls to the driver’s side — This was all engineered so that K.I.T.T. could be seen driving by itself while still allowing David Hasselhoff to get in and drive from the driver’s side without having to cut the scene and change cars. This car would continue as the “Right-Hand, Blind Drive” car throughout the remainder of the series. It is the first Monday of 2025, and what better way to kick off the new year than with a #MovieCarMonday here at the Marconi Automotive Museum & Foundation for Kids featuring the original, 1992 Screen-Used Batmobile! This is the number one car or “Hero Car” as they call it, used for the filming of the 1992 film, “Batman Returns” starring Michael Keaton. Arguably the most iconic Batmobile ever created thanks to legendary designer, Carl Casper. This car was put into storage shortly after the filming of the movie in 1992. Subsequently, about 3 years ago, with the help of Carl Casper (Hollywood Productions) the car was made available for purchase and allowed the opportunity to be displayed here at the museum.
