Twenty-one states, including four neighboring states, raised their minimum wage on New Year’s Day, but Pennsylvania wasn’t one of them. Pennsylvania’s minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 an hour since 2009, which was when the federal government raised the minimum wage nationally. The commonwealth has the lowest minimum wage compared to all six of our neighboring states. New York has the highest minimum wage at $16.50 per hour, followed by New Jersey at $15.49, Delaware and Maryland at $15, Ohio at $10.70, and West Virginia $8.75.
