I am a social entrepreneur. I’ve raised millions. I’ve spoken at the The White House. I’ve mentored countless founders and leaders. Yet, I wouldn’t even qualify for a supervisor position at some nonprofits. Why? Because I lack a specific degree. 🎓 Let’s talk about the top nonprofit management programs in America: •Harvard University •University of San Francisco •Indiana University Bloomington •The University of Georgia •Arizona State University •Case Western Reserve University •University of Notre Dame •New York University •University of Southern California •Texas A&M University These institutions are prestigious, but how accessible are they to Black individuals? Consider this: • Financial Barriers: The average tuition for these programs is over $50,000 per year. • Acceptance Rates: Many have acceptance rates below 40%, making entry highly competitive. • Representation: Black students are underrepresented in these institutions, limiting access to these degrees. The result? Qualified Black leaders are overlooked for executive roles due to degree requirements, despite their experience and impact. This perpetuates a cycle where nonprofits lack diverse leadership, affecting their ability to serve diverse communities effectively. It’s time to rethink these requirements. Let’s value lived experience, proven impact, and community connection over traditional credentials. Let’s remove the barriers that keep producing the same results. 💡 Small Business Growth Starts with a Solid Foundation 💡 Hiring Danielle Parker as our Vice President & Chief Mover was a game-changer. 🔥 But let me be real—it only worked because our build team and delivery team already featured strong Dreamers like Dex and Ralon. 👷🏾‍♂️🚛 Strategy matters. 👉🏾 Don’t hire leadership if your frontline isn’t ready. 👉🏾 Don’t scale without strong systems. 👉🏾 Don’t chase big titles—build a strong foundation. 👉🏾 Don’t feel bad when you make mistakes— building the best team takes time and effort. Small business leaders/owners, listen up: Your dream can’t grow if the roots aren’t deep. 🌳 Strong teams build stronger leaders. And stronger leaders build movements. ✌🏾🌟 – Chief Dreamer #DreamBig #SmallBusinessStrategy #TeamBuilding #Leadership #ChiefDreamer
💥 Let’s Talk About Food Equity 💥 If you’re building farmer’s markets or mobile markets and skipping communities of color, here’s the truth: You’re perpetuating the very problem you’re trying to solve. 🚫 No fresh produce where it’s needed most. 🚫 Families stuck with overpriced, low-quality options. 🚫 A system that looks like progress but leaves people behind. 🚫 Offering fresh produce to neighborhoods that have a myriad of options already. 💡 Real equity means: 🌍 Serving every community. 👀 Seeing the gaps. 💪🏾 Disrupting what’s broken. At Dion's Chicago Dream, we don’t just talk about solutions—we build them. We go where it matters. We show up for the people who need it most. So, here’s my question for you: 👉🏾 Are your actions fixing the system—or reinforcing it? Let’s stop the talk and start the transformation. ✌🏾🌟 – Chief Dreamer #FoodEquity #DoTheWork #RepresentationMatters #DreamBig #ChiefDreamer #food #problem #honesty

💥 Food Waste Enthusiasts: Let’s Have a Real Conversation 💥 Here’s the thing about food equity: It’s not just about what you do—it’s about how, where, and who you’re doing it for. So let me ask you: 👉🏾 Do you focus on “excess food” because it’s the easiest option? 🤔 👉🏾 When you say “those who need it most,” is it just a palatable way to say Black people without actually addressing them? 👉🏾 Do you understand the message you send when you deliver food that’s “bad but still good” to people who look like me? Are we not worthy of quality? 💔 And let’s get even realer: 🍽 How many startups will pop up—white-led—claiming to “revolutionize” food waste solutions? 🍽 Do you see how excluding communities from your market strategy hurts the entire food system? 💡 Here’s the truth: Your intent does not outweigh your execution. If your approach centers “you” while de-centering them, you’ve missed the point. And if this post makes you uncomfortable, good. Sit with that tension. That’s where growth starts. 🌱 Because food equity isn’t about feeling good about what you’ve done—it’s about building systems that include, respect, and uplift the communities you claim to serve. We deserve better. So, the question is: Will you do better? ✌🏾🌟 – Chief Dreamer #FoodEquity #RepresentationMatters #DoBetter #DreamBig #ChiefDreamer #questions
We💭 TikTok is Back. And That is Not Bad or Good—I Think It May Be Necessary. 💭 In a world that moves at the speed of a scroll, it’s easy to dismiss the weight of reality with a swipe. Yes, TikTok is back. And no, this isn’t a simple story of right or wrong. It’s a reminder of the complexities we often choose to ignore. I see the criticisms. The debates. The think pieces written from places of comfort, far removed from the lived experiences of those whose livelihoods hang in the balance. There are points—valid ones—on both sides. Concerns of data, of national security, of influence. But beyond those concerns lies something more immediate, more urgent: people. 👉 TikTok has become more than entertainment. It’s an economy. 👉 It’s one of the largest employers of the middle class in this country. 👉 And removing it? The consequences would ripple far beyond our screens. This isn’t just about free speech or free press—though those matter. It’s about real people, real income, real survival. The truth is, there’s no scenario where this tension disappears. The lines have been drawn, the battle will continue. But instead of asking, “Who’s right?”—we need to ask: 💭 Who will this affect? 💭 Will they be okay? 💭 What happens next—for them, not us? Because beyond the headlines and the politics, there are families, creators, and entrepreneurs who have built their dreams on the platform. And they don’t deserve to be forgotten in the noise. Let’s move forward with intention. With clarity. With care. Because no matter where you stand, one truth remains: people matter most. ✌🏾🌟 – Chief Dreamer #TikTok #EconomicRealities #ThePeopleMatter #FreeSpeech #Leadership #DreamBig #ChiefDreamer

🥊 2024: The Dreamer’s Fight 🥊 Ding, ding, ding! The bell rang, and 2024 came out swinging. The universe landed some heavy blows, but let me tell you—I threw punches of my own. 💪✨ This year was a battle of resilience and triumph: 🛠 We grew to 45+ employees, including community health workers, directors, and even a new Chief Connector! 🍎 Delivered more than 1 MILLION pounds of fresh produce in a single year (🤯). 🎉 Celebrated Dream Day, launched multiple Dream Vaults, and hosted our first annual Dream Draft. 🏆 Earned honors like the Healthy Community Award and the President’s Council Community Leadership Award. But let’s be real—2024 hit back. 💔 We faced the heartbreaking loss of Big Dreamer James Jackson and wrestled through some of our toughest days. Still, we stood tall, committed to serving thousands of households every week. Through every punch, every win, every setback—we’ve stayed in the ring. Consistency. Dignity. Impact. That’s how we fight food insecurity and build the legacy. 2025, you better lace up. 🥊 We’re stepping into the ring stronger, sharper, and more determined than ever. Thank you for being in our corner. Let’s keep doing the work. ✌️🌟 – Dion, Chief Dreamer #DreamBig #2024Recap #FightingForImpact #FoodEquity #ChiefDreamer #KeepDreaming
