They are two most popular high speed color negative film stocks and while both create beautiful results, as you will see in this side by side comparison, they look very different. Kodak Portra 800 is known of its warmth and more natural tones while Cinestill 800T is tungsten balanced which typically produces cooler tones, especially in daylight. We enjoy both and typically save Portra 800 for portraits and scenes with daylight and prefer Cinestill 800T for lowlight scenes with artificial light/mixed light as it can produce very unique, cinematic looking photos. To learn more about these two film stocks, as well as many more, check out our Film Index which is linked in our bio!
