Good thing I didn’t panic… there’s nothing like getting to the top of a boulder and then realizing you don’t know how to match on the finish hold. I had a plan. Toe hook the arete, but that turned out to be just out of reach for me. There’s a chance I can still do it that way if I reallyyyy stretch. But we’ll see! I’ll be returning to finish this V7/8! But you best believe I’ll be practicing the last move in isolation before I give it a go from the start. What happens if you fall on the Zaed??? Is the pin strong enough? Pins are very common in slacklining but not climbing so we pulled the rope to see what happens. It's as strong as any quickdraw and broke in the dog bone first. You are NOT supposed to fall on the zaed or you will have NO resistance, BUT if you did it's super strong enough. When I first tried this white V7/8 I knew it was going to suit me. Small crimps, high placed feet, tiny foot chips. All of those things were right up my alley! What I didn’t except though was to struggle matching the last hold. The intended beta was to toe hook the arete (which is super cool!) but unfortunately didn’t work for 5’1 me 😢 At first I was pretty disappointed, but after trying & trying to figure out a different way. I realized how much more satisfying it was to figure out MY BETA. Sure, it definitely made the boulder harder than it was intended. But again, that’s life! Not everything is going to work for you the way you want it to. And sometimes you have to find a different way. #climbtok #climbingtiktok
