Starbucks boycott is still dumb I don't have a lot of details to add to this repost other than that I think I really solved the final question of this video about starbucks, and it's just this idea that... I can't control the discourse or the fact that really messy discourses happen, all I can control is my audience that's directly in front of me and give them small call to actions that get them practiced in doing work inside of their own community, and especially getting people to internalize that they are capable of obtaining power. I think what I had trouble conceding at the time is that if this particular bad discourse went away the inherent structural problems would still be there because this is something that's created the platforms, so pushing back against one argument or another just becomes a game of whack-a-mole. if you're still reading this, thank you for sticking with me so far. I got about 2 or 4 more videos before I'm done with this app. check me out wherever on the internet I end up next. and understand that in these times of struggle that you are capable of way more power than you can ever imagine #starbucksboycott #communityorganizing #leftistinfighting #onthisday

How can we organize against the people oppressing us when we are constantly fighting each other and nobody will have a transparent conversation about it (I see this all the time) #leftist #leftisttiktok #organizing #organizingtiktok #communityorganizing

Replying to @nope. the young lords party fought against systems of oppression, by taking things into their own hands - the members were usually very young, doing very radical things, such as free, childcare, free breakfast programs, poetry, and arts nights, and whatever else the community needed. Their signature look included, berets, typically black clothing, combat boots - which symbolized unity and power. #fashiontiktok #protest #communityorganizing
Replying to @Shirley Artis Undocumented people and children don’t vote. And these are OUR Black lives. #blacktiktokcommunity #communityorganizing #blackwomenoftiktok #wellreadblkgrl

We spent the afternoon packing snack packs for first responders and hygiene bags for displaced Angelinos. I never wanted to live in California. Never thought we’d be here more than a year. But I’m sick of waiting in purgatory when there are ways that I can still help and give back to my neighbors. This app may not be with us for much longer so please use this time to organize and relay information. But then if you’re able - get out into the real world and do something impactful today. #palisades #eatonfire #communityorganizing #volunteers #californialove

My prediction for the new year, is that lines will start getting drawn in the sand, defining who is willing to stand in solidarity and who is caught up in self serving patterns. More and more in recent discussions of power and oppression dynamics, the subject has come up of what it means to use the privilege inequitably distributed amongst individuals within our society responsibly- specifically what it means to be given a lions’ share of resources in comparison with your neighbors and be given a choice between engaging in self-serving patterns or infusing your privilege into your community. Hero complexes run rampant in our society, and the feeling that we each as individuals are responsible for saving the world is essential to capitalism for two reasons - 1, we are not superheroes and, when paired with that truth, egotistical internalized beliefs that we can make societal change alone keep us locked in essential spirals of despair rather than making progress against oligarchical oppressive industry. 2, it reinforces internally within society the narcissistic patterns of white supremacist culture that keep us oppressing each other by thinking we know better, or that we ARE better. Until people with privileged power are consciously relinquishing control of that privilege to the people who have been disenfranchised by this power structure, no change will be made to the power structure. And though many of us know that there are enough resources to go around if we were to properly organize, the internalized scarcity mindset and the hero complexes rule our unconscious mind. Remember. A powerful person could maybe survive a hollow life alone in the woods. But a strong person who puts some of their power into service of their community, gets to live a life surrounded by music, art, and love. . . . #2025predictions #happynewyear #classwarfare #communityorganizing #classsolidarity

As we acknowledge Dr. King, his work, his dream. We must also acknowledge that our fight continues and it starts with us, community organizers, activist , and faith leaders. I had the privilege of spending a week with organizers in the Gamaliel Race and Power Insitute in December. Their passion, their brilliance, their fire, their work was inspiring. It is what brings us closer to Dr. Kings dream. Resistance. Persistence. Insistence. #MLKDay #fyp #communityorganizing #resistance
