When I visit clients’ properties it is often clear that the soil is depleted of nutrients. If organic matter like leaves, grass clippings, pine needles and small stems from perennials (the type of plant that comes back) are all removed every year, they can’t break down and add nutrients to the soil. Think about a natural area where no one is running around with yard waste bags. This usually results in unhappy plants! I often suggest adding compost. It adds nutrients to your soil that will break down over time so they don’t immediately start providing nutrients but it doesn’t take long if you add them at the beginning of spring. Where do you get compost? We have gotten it delivered multiple times from our local nursery so I would start there. There are usually minimum delivery requirements, such as 3 yards but you can also buy bags. Other materials are great too, like mushroom or lobster compost and even manure. The best thing you can do is to leave as much of your own organic matter around your yard. It is the cheapest and lowest maintenance way to go and you can control what comes onto your property. So how that would go is doing what I’m suggesting to this client and then in the fall leaving as much as possible in the garden beds and then the following spring, top up the mulch if needed so there is no exposed soil. The following year may require another load of compost, especially if leaves and other materials have not been left to decompose. Yes, mulch can decompose but it’s usually not the same and thick mats cannot decompose easily. About me: I am a garden coach and consultant in the Boston area. Turning cover crop! I basically just want to turn it before the peas start going to seed. The other crops will take a lot longer to do that. The peas will store nutrients from the soil in the seed and we don’t want that. So I’ll turn it and let it start composting for the next few months before I plant! #garden #covercrop #gardening #peas #gardenwork #compost

Replying to @ruksana.khan222 Heres an better visual of the tumbler. I have found it doesn't smell at all! Mainly because you mix greens and browns! Exclusive disc0unt on my kitchen composter in my b10 🌱 I seriously don’t know why I thought putting in fats and greasy food was a good idea 💩. As if my Monsteras were going to enjoy BEEF all of a sudden 😂. Now this composter CAN break down meat. HOWEVER, for the setting that creates fertilizer, you only want to add things like fruits, veggies, legumes, and coffee grounds. I’ve been sharing in my Stories my journey of composting my food lately, and I’m REALLY enjoying the process because it (1) feeds my plants (2) reduces food waste (3) doesn’t leave a gross wet pile of old food in a compost bin. My friend actually gave me this composter awhile back and I finally got around to using it and I can’t stop! Rainy day home reset ☁️✨ keeping it low-waste/non-toxic with my favorite eco-friendly cleaning habits 🌿🏡
I use @Force of Nature Clean for everything—it’s made with just salt, water, and vinegar, transformed by an electrolyzer into a powerful yet non-toxic cleaner. It sanitizes in 1 minute and disinfects in 10, so I even use it on toothbrushes (just rinse after!). I spray this on all my high-touch surfaces and let it sit to kill any germs. This system is so incredible, I highly recommend it! Not sponsored, just a fan.

I also remove my faucet aerators every so often to deep clean them with Force of Nature—so satisfying! 🚰✨
For dishes and general cleaning, castile soap is my go-to—simple, effective, and multi-purpose. Let me know if you want to see more ways it can be utilized— the possibilities are endless!

And for laundry, I always wash on a cold water cycle with an eco detergent (currently using @Cleancult) Cold water keeps clothes looking new longer, and reduces microplastic shedding from synthetic fabrics!
Sustainability isn’t just about what I buy but how I care for what I own—oiling my cutting boards and wooden utensils keeps them in great shape for years.
And when I don’t feel like cleaning? I set a 20-minute timer and reset my space fast—it’s a game changer ⏳💨

Having rabbits as pets isn’t just about the cuddles (though they’re amazing for that too!). These little fluff balls are also garden superheroes, providing one of the best natural fertilizers out there! 🥕✨ 🐇 How Much Fertilizer Do They Produce? An average rabbit produces about 1 lb of manure per week—that’s over 50 lbs per year of nutrient-rich garden gold! 🌿 Why Rabbit Manure is Amazing for Your Garden: ✅ Cold Manure: Unlike some animal fertilizers, rabbit manure doesn’t need composting before use! You can apply it directly to your plants. ✅ Nutrient-Rich: High in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (the perfect plant food). ✅ Improves Soil: Adds organic matter, improves drainage, and encourages beneficial microbes. 🌼 How to Use It: 🔹 Sprinkle it directly around plants for a slow-release fertilizer. So while your bunnies are hopping around being adorable, they’re also giving your garden a major head start. Who knew pets could be this productive? 🥰🐰🌱 #RabbitFertilizer #OrganicGardening #CompostTea #BunnyLove #GardeningTips #rabbit #bunny #compost #growfood #growyourfood #growyourownfood #gardening #growingfood #vegetablegarden #vegetable #fromseedtospoon #seedtospoon #growfoodnotlawns #letsgrowsomethinggood
