****Authentically speaking, I hated my appearance for a long time because of bullying and being treated like an ugly duckling. I was a constant target for people who needed to project their hate onto others not only for the way I looked but just me being myself… although I was the type to speak up and defend myself(showcasing pride so they don’t see me hurt) I was still affected by the way they treated me and I converted myself to their standards by getting braces like I was encouraged to. Long story short I ended up losing my retainers and my teeth spaced out while I was away from home. I got braces again but couldn’t keep up with the payments and so I just got them taken off and by then- I was already having mixed emotions about my appearance. I didn’t feel pretty without intention at first, but today I feel pretty confident that my beauty is effortless and I look back!! At pictures of the old me where I hated myself!! And all I can see!!! Is a beautiful young girl who couldn’t see her own reflection for what it truly was!!!!🥲 So what if my teeth have spaces, that doesn’t make my smile imperfect. We smile when we are happy, how could anyone then try to define what a smile should look like. All of our happiness is different but it’s happiness all the same and nobody should ever feel ashamed about expressing their happiness in this world. #crookedsmile #selflove
