Got more of the major parts made and filed the last couple days for the railing order. We’re one step closer to having the west side done. Once these parts are finished, then I can use them as patterns for the otherside which will go a lot quicker. It was a long day today to say the least, but a good one. I got the spindles ready to be riveted over. There is still some aligning to do to get all to fit snug, but that ain’t too bad. Tomorrow will be a day of reassembling what is done, and finish forge welding the scrolls together. For the tenons on the stair railings I’m doing them differently than I will be on the porch railings. Since I have to deal with angles on each spindle I decided to use a method I’ve used in the past, which is tap and use a bolt as my “tenon” I also use brass to act as “threadlock” to hold the bolts in to ensure they never come out and hold tight during the riveting of the rail. #deadheadforge #ornamentalironwork #handforged #SmallBusiness #iowa #blacksmithing #customironwork #customrailing #custom #architecturalironwork #coalforge #timelapse #CapCut

Well I’ll be honest when I say this year was definitely full of ups and downs, with more downs that I would’ve liked. But we made it though knock on wood. 2025 will be for a lot of much needed changes to how I run my business, and how I change my life. I’m hoping to get more larger orders with faster turn around times, along with orders on some stuff I’ve drawn up recently(I have a lot of ideas so if you’re looking for something that’s unique and one of a kind give me a call). I’m also adding a couple more services to my business which I’ll post more about this spring. Between working on orders, adding onto the shop, and just everyday work around home it was a long year, but still a decent one. I do want to say thank you to all my customers this year and to everyone who has supported me, and I hope I can get the support for many more years to come.
