🚨Has dirty 6th changed for the better or worse?👀 Starting January 16th, dirty 6th WILL be open for vehicular travel at all times. 🚨For YEARS, it was closed from 9pm until 2am, Thursday-Saturday My review: I can see the vision by installing plastic poles (bollards) to slow down cars, installing meridians so cars won’t go on the side walk and having gates on each side to block pedestrians and cars from going. But will it be enough to stop cars from even going? I personally do not like the idea and they should KEEP it open for pedestrians to walk late at night on weekends. Look at how other counties like in Europe allow pedestrians to walk. Those places are THRIVING. This is a huge step back in my opinion But what do you think? I’ve talked to some business owners and police offers and they told me the following. 📌They’re collecting data and information to see patterns of how cars and people interact when the street is open for vehicular traffic. These are baby steps and they will figure out what the best plan moving forward 📌A good analogy that someone told me was, this is like a 30 year old who has never been disciplined their whole life and trying to change in 1 night. It will take time to figure out the best way to tackle the problem of dirty 6th. ✅Business owners on dirty want to get rid of the “dirty” name and want it to be renamed as “old 6th”, as you can see with some new signage of renovation around. In the future, they want to make this whole place activated throughout the day with restaurants when the sun is out, rather than just nightlife on weekends. But what do you think?
