Disclaimer, having these symptoms doesn’t automatically mean you have MCAS, there are other possible conditions that present similarly so it is worth getting checked out and speaking to an allergist or immunologist if you’re concerned 🙌 #chronicillness #chronicallyill #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesstiktok #chronicillnesslife #invisibleillness #invisibleillnessawareness #invisibledisability #disability #disabled #disabilitytiktok #disabledtiktok #disabilityawareness #disabilitypride #mcas #mcasawareness #mastcellactivationsyndrome

Disclaimer, this is my personal experience, MCAS does vary from person to person and there are a variety of severities, all the way up to anaphylactic reactions. MCAS stands for mast cell activation syndrom, this is a condition where the mast cells responsible for protecting the body from pathogens are overactive and respond oftentimes without an obvious trigger, releasing histamine and other signals to activate your immune system. This can cause a wide array of symptoms, but the best way I can describe it as someone who has it, it feels like I can have an allergic reaction to anything at anytime, regardless of if I’m actually allergic and even if I’ve never had a reaction to that particular thing before. It can be a real whirlwind 😅 #chronicillness #chronicallyill #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesstiktok #chronicillnesslife #invisibleillness #invisibleillnessawareness #invisibledisability #disability #disabled #disabilitytiktok #disabledtiktok #disabilityawareness #disabilitypride #mcas #mcasawareness #mastcellactivationsyndrome

I appreciate brands making the effort to make adaptive clothing options! They just don’t always work for everyone so there’s some trial and error :) [Video Description: ST, a young white woman with long blonde hair, is speaking on screen. She is wearing an orange Tommy Hilfiger adaptive coat that has Velcro on the front instead of buttons. Text on screen at the beginning of the video reads “Why Velcro is not a good option for every disabled person with adaptive clothing.” Text on screen throughout the video reads “NO ADVICE PLEASE”] #DisabilityTikTok #DisabilityAwareness
Replying to @Mac Tommy Adaptive magnetic shirt! So much better than buttons and Velcro for someone like me :) [Video Description: ST, a young white woman with long blonde hair, is speaking on screen. She is wearing a blue button down shirt with magnets instead of buttons. Text on screen at the beginning of the video reads “Magnets instead of buttons on clothing for accessibility!” Text on screen throughout the video reads “NO ADVICE PLEASE”] #DisabilityTikTok #DisabilityAwareness

If you want to learn more about MCAS, what it is and how it works, check out this video! @Kit ✨♿️ And if you want to learn more about how MCAS presents and the types of symptoms those with MCAS experience, check out this video! @Kit ✨♿️ Having these symptoms doesn’t automatically mean you have MCAS, this is just my experience with this condition and the things I used to say before realizing I had it. There are other conditions that look similar to MCAS but with different underlying mechanisms so it’s important to speak to a doctor if you’re concerned 🙌 #chronicillness #chronicallyill #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesstiktok #chronicillnesslife #invisibleillness #invisibleillnessawareness #invisibledisability #disability #disabled #disabilitytiktok #disabledtiktok #disabilityawareness #disabilitypride #mcas #mcasawareness #mastcellactivationsyndrome

I think fire safety at school made Si realize that things would be a little different for him in the case of an emergency. A scary conversation but also very necessary. We also talked about how fire safety at school might look a little different for him as well. We will be moving this year and one of the things we are installing is flashing lights to go along with our fire alarms and door bells. After a couple nights of him crawling into our bed and telling us his fears, I think he is finally comfortable knowing we have plans and safety measures in place. #raisingdeafkids #firesafety #momlife #disabilityparenting #deafawareness #disabilityawareness
Spoon theory is a metaphor to show how those of us with chronic illness and disability have limited energy for daily tasks. Spoons are meant to show how much energy someone has and how much energy something takes comparatively. My sweet Lindy is five years old and has childhood apraxia of speech. It wasn’t until she was nearly four that she could start building sentences. Seeing her progress has been nothing short of amazing. She absolutely loves the song "APT" and sings it all the time. Just look at how beautifully she’s putting the words together and expressing herself through song. She has come such a long way, and I couldn’t be prouder of her! #ChildhoodApraxiaOfSpeech #CASAwareness #SpeechTherapyJourney #DisabilityAwareness #SpeechTherapyGoals #OccupationalTherapy #SpeechMilestones #SpecialNeedsParenting #SpeechTherapyTips #therapyforkids #apt

please for everyone who sees this who thinks about doing this or does this…. DO NOT slap a service dog vest on your untrained dog to bring it places with you. This is not only incredibly disrespectful to actual disabled people with real task trained service animals…. It’s not only also against the federal law and illegal, but it’s also super harmful to disabled people who NEED service animals. there are so many awful stories of service dogs getting attacked in stores (then having to be washed from service work) or service dogs missing alerts because a untrained dog is up in there face barking/lunging, trying to get to them….its NOT okay, people with real service dogs who are getting denied into places because of horrible stories of fake service dogs acting out in places….making it even harder for the legitimate disabled individuals who’s need these dogs, and all the fake service dogs and owners who are spreading misinformation on what a actual service dog is and does. It is getting completely out of hand…. And it’s happening ALL THE TIME. *side note cider did really well with this dog who was pulling at the end of its flexi leash barking and lunging at him the entire time, he was aware of the other dog but still ignoring it enough to check in and stay focused* ❤️ #servicedog #dog #sdit #DogTraining #fake #dogs #disabled #disabilityawareness #fyp #foryoupage
y’all, please don’t talk to me about bird flu or this bad stomach bug if you’re still not willing to mask! 👋 no, the pandemic never ended for disabled and immunocompromised folks, and repeat infections are killing healthy people too! and yes I know, bird flu primarily comes from contact with infected animals, but there’s seems to be a serious lack of understanding about public safety! you can both hold your government accountable for negligent responses to pandemics AND still do your part by wearing a mask, washing your hands, and taking more precautions ! 😷 stay safe, friends, and it’s never too late to start masking again! 💚 #maskup #masking #wearamask #wearadamnmask #2025 #2025newyear #mutualaid #disabilitypride #disabled #disabilityawareness
