Normalize not having an opinion on things you aren’t properly informed about—especially when it comes to dogs. Not every dog owner is a trainer - especially if you have only trained your own dogs, not every trainer understands vet med, and not every vet fully understands dog behavior. And that’s okay! But we have a growing culture of people sharing opinions as facts, often without the knowledge, experience, or nuance to back them up. For example: 🐾 Saying a certain training method is ‘abuse’ without understanding its application or the dog’s individual needs. 🐾 Making blanket statements about breeds without considering genetics, health, or environment. 🐾 Giving medical advice without veterinary training. It’s okay to ask questions, seek reliable information, and say, ‘I don’t know enough to have an opinion on that.’ Dogs deserve care rooted in knowledge, not misinformation or ego. Let’s focus on learning, staying curious, and helping them in the best ways possible. #DogTrainingTips #VetMed #DogBehavior #DogCare101 #DogParentLife #DogsOfTikTok #PetCommunity #DogTrainerLife #RescueDogsRule #DogEducation #NormalizeThis #FoodForThought #UnpopularOpinion #LearnBeforeYouSpeak #DoYourResearch #StayCurious #CriticalThinking #FYP #ForYou #TrendingNow #ViralThoughts #TikTokEducation #DogTok #doberman #dobermanpinscher #dobermandynamics #DogTraining #dogtrainer #NOLADogTrainer #akcobedience #akc #americankennelclub #dpca #Puppies #Dogs #dobie #neworleans #swampdobe #labradorretriever #labs #dogsports #cockerspaniel #Spaniels #puppytraining

Answer: Myth. Not all dogs can be service dogs. While any dog could be trained, not every dog has the right qualities to perform service work. Here’s why: 1. Temperament: Service dogs need to be calm, focused, and well-behaved in public. Dogs that are excitable or aggressive are not suitable. 2. Training: Service dogs undergo extensive training to perform specific tasks for their handler. This requires intelligence, patience, and a willingness to learn. 3. Physical Ability: Some tasks, like mobility assistance or alerting, require dogs to be strong and healthy. Smaller or frail dogs may not be up to the job. 4. Breed: While any breed can theoretically be trained, certain breeds like Labrador Retrievers or German Shepherds are more commonly used due to their temperament and physical traits. 5. Socialization: Service dogs must be well-socialized and able to ignore distractions in public. Dogs that are shy or reactive may not be reliable. Legal Definition: Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service dogs are specifically trained to assist with a disability. They are different from emotional support animals or therapy dogs, which require less training. In short, while many dogs can be trained, not every dog has the right traits or abilities to be a service dog. Photo description: Sage green and white background with dog paws. #stitch with @Corgis of Prairie Green These 2 breeds were created SEPARATELY and happened to be similar, but originated differently. Cardigan corgis (named because they’re from Cardiganshire) descended from the German Teckel lineage. Pembroke corgis (named because they’re from Pembrokeshire) descended from Nordic Spitz breeds. Were they BRIEFLY bred together. Yes. And then that quickly ended and they have been TWO DISTINCT breeds like we see today. Both were called “welsh corgis” until both fanciers of the breeds advocated for separation because they were too difficult to judge as the same breed, because they were not. The American corgi IS NOT the original corgi ANYONE BREEDING AMERICAN CORGIS IS AN UNETHICAL BACKYARD BREEDER #maslowthetrickcorgi #corgisoftiktok #pembrokewelshcorgi #cardiganwelshcorgi #purebreddogs #dogeducation #dogsoftiktok
