Secret Christmas Dollhouse Build — PART 2 — the one where we fill up all the rooms! Last Christmas, I finished out the attic space next to our girls’ room and turned it into the cutest little hang out space complete with a secret mirror door that I’m still not over. This year I’m building in a dollhouse! I have wallpapered, added flooring, tiny tiles, picture frame moulding, board & batten, crown and baseboards… I’ve tried to think of all the details! And now I’m staging every room & using reusable mounting putty for everything on the walls and ceilings so the girls can rearrange this however they want! I can’t believe how many battery powered lights I found. And the details!!! The library ladder, copper pots and pans, drawers that open, porcelain tub, tiny vinyls… I even made sure to line up the windows so you can look inside and see all the rooms! Can you choose a favorite room?? I know tomorrow is Christmas Eve, but I have ONE more trick up my sleeve before I show this to the girls. It’s going to make this 10x cuter! Stay tuned for the final reveal & the girls reactions!! #dollhouse #dollhouseminiatures #diydollhouse #dollhousebuild #christmasbuild #diygifts #girlmom #hgtvmagazine #farmhouseish #diymomsoftiktok
Secret Christmas Dollhouse Build — PART 1 — the exterior is done and can you even with the cuteness? Last Christmas, I finished out the attic space next to our girls’ room and turned it into the cutest little hang out space complete with a secret mirror door with I’m still not over. This year I’m adding to it! I built a tall and thin doll house box out of 1x12s in a 1:12 ratio. So I have 9” ceilings that translate to 9’. Make sense? Then I added plywood on the back and fit it between the studs so I could set it back and not have it take up floor space. I built my front out of 1x2s and 1/4” plywood, and used joint compound to create a German schemer painted brick situation that I actually LOVE. I used popsicle sticks for the roof and stained them aged oak. Added in windows that I painted black, and built tiny window boxes for them that I filled with tiny flowers! Then the pink door, lights that actually work, and planters really brought it together! Next I’m finishing out every room inside in a way that the girls can redesign & rearrange. What do you think so far? And no — they won’t peek!! They can’t wait to be surprised on Christmas!! #dollhouse #dollhousebuild #diydollhouse #playroomideas #secretdoor #christmasbuild #hgtvmagazine
