Replying to @Grizzly Addams FOR CONTEXT if you’re new. I am donor conceived. I was made before donor catalogs. I was made before parents were allowed to pick the donor. When I was made the clinics assigned donors that matched the dads as best they could color, eyecolor, ethnicity, and even religion. My dad is Scottish, Irish Catholic. I went my whole life, thinking I was Polish from my mom’s side, and Scottish and Irish. Plus I was raised Catholic. I did not find out that I was half Ashkenazi Jewish till I was in my mid-20s. My donor is an OBGYN Orthodox Rabbi and Mohel. MANY donor conceived individuals find out they were a completely different ethnicity than what was listed on the donor profile.
