With the devastating wildfires across Los Angeles County we want to help animal shelters in those areas most affected. They are going to be inundated with additional animals putting the current animals in those shelters directly at risk. Opening up space in these shelters is the only way to save lives and ensure they’ll have the space they need for so many new intakes. This means we NEED fosters and we NEED people with large animal trailers willing to help transport. Right now we are just organizing our plan and looking to have people in place. Once the LA shelters ask for our assistance we want to be ready to go at a moments notice. If you live anywhere in California and can open your home to a dog in need or have a livestock trailer and can assist with transport please reach out directly to us with how you can help so we know how many volunteers are ready to go. Parvo is no joke and that’s exactly what sweet baby Dustin is fighting. He’s a strong little dude and getting round the clock care from our vet and staff. This is exactly what happens when young puppies aren’t fully vaccinated and end up in public shelters. They don’t have the immunity to stay healthy and so they get sick. For some help doesn’t come quick enough and illnesses like parvo are a horrible way to die 😞 We are hopeful Dustin is going to beat the odds and kick parvos butt! Sweet, sweet Flower 🌸 Her legs are worn with calluses, likely from spending years confined to a small space with hard surfaces. Her teeth are ground down, a sign of desperation, perhaps from trying to escape the harsh conditions she endured. Her swollen belly and nipples speak to the toll of constant breeding, her body a silent testament to the many litters she’s brought into the world. Though we may never know the full extent of her past, the wear and tear on her body tells us she wasn’t shown the kindness she deserved. Yet, despite it all, Flower is pure love. She greets life with an open heart, always eager to show us her gratitude for being rescued. She plays, she hugs, she finds joy in every moment—because she knows that chapter is over. She’s free, and her new life with a forever family is just around the corner.With her gentle spirit and resilience, Flower has already caught the eye of our Miracle Mutts coordinator, who sees the potential for her to be a therapy dog. This #freedomfriday is a clear reminder that freedom is never free. For every life saved there are so many working hard in the back ground. Spending money they don’t have and hours there never seem to be enough of. 23 dogs were saved from the California City based rescue Pawfect Companions in deplorable condition. 17 remain while the authorities work on the legal aspects of removing them. The 23 saved have Saving Gizmos Friends to thank. They started their rescue journey and have spent thousands beginning medical care for each and every one of them.
