About last night (12.13.24) @Jennifer Hudson #JenniferHudson did the damn thing! Her performance of “And I’m Telling You, I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls was nothing short of EPIC! She always owns that song and hearing her sing it live again moved me to tears, sent chills down my spine. Here’s a little-known fact: the very first time she EVER performed this iconic song live was at my request! Yep! Back in January 2005, Jennifer was booked to sing for Xtreme Entertainment Atlanta’s MLK show. I asked her to sing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going”, and she told me that was her very first time performing it live. There wasn’t even talk of her playing Effie back then. Her casting in Dreamgirls didn’t happen until later that year. Have you caught up? 😜 To see her now, knowing her incredible journey, owning the stage and bringing audiences to their feet with this song, is such a full-circle moment.
