Today with Cerezo was unreal… i wasnt going to post this but i felt like he deserved to be seen in this light… Ive ridden quite a few girses bareback in my time, and it used to be almost an everyday thing a few years ago. I have never felt a horse go from the most powerful, strong, and forward being with a saddle on, to a horse that quite literally said “This will be the easiest most lighthearted fun ride if you could trust me.” Cerezo immediately as soon as i got on took it down one hundred notches and said tell me where to go. The horse of a lifetime… It really hasn’t clicked up until now for me that Mago is actually mine, like forever. He is the first super quality horse I’ve had ownership of and though I ride him almost everyday it still feels like a dream. My goal when he first got here was to lengthen his neck and back and to have him really truly connected the way I like in my own feel. I aim to have my horses going in such a way where they have total freedom and mobility of their back, they are in balance pushing from behind up through and over their back to the bit, and up in front with an open throat latch. I always say in my posts “we have much work still to do” but in this post I would just like to express how much I appreciate the journey of training horses. This guy has come such a long way already in less than a month and is truly evolving into my dream feeling. Today I had a ride where there was no pulling or heaviness in my hand, he was light upfront while maintaining his power from behind, he was balanced and moved off of my leg, and his walk wasn’t rushed. Magos forst snaffle day…i am a huge advocate dir riding a hirse inti lightness and elasticity. Mago and I rode in a snaffle yesterday for the first time. it was not easy at first as he tried to bull and run through it but fuve minutes later came the most incredible feeling ive ever had in my career… we have much work to do on his balance, back fitness, and true connection, but we are starting at a really interesting spot. I love a good power horse and this guy is pure power and ego.
