Here’s a mind-blowing fact: every embryo starts as female. 🌱 But how does that work? Let’s dive in! At conception, all embryos are genetically XX (female). The default blueprint for human development is female. In the first few weeks of pregnancy, the embryo has the potential to develop into a female, regardless of the genetic sex. The early stages don’t yet have male or female characteristics. At around the 6-week mark, the SRY gene (on the Y chromosome) kicks in for male embryos. This gene triggers the development of testes, which in turn starts producing testosterone, pushing the embryo toward male characteristics. If the embryo doesn’t receive this hormonal signal, it will default to developing ovaries, leading to the female body. Even though we think of males as XY and females as XX, the real twist is that biologically, we all start from the same “female” template. It’s only after these early weeks that sexual differentiation takes place. So in essence: We are all female, until biology decides otherwise. Isn’t that incredible? Science is full of surprises. 🔬 #SexualDifferentiation #Embryology #HumanDevelopment #FemaleFirst #Genetics #ScienceFacts #BiologyRocks #DidYouKnow #XYandXX #GeneticBlueprint #HormonesMatter #ScienceExplained #fyp
