Found this in my drafts. I do miss milling logs in summer but I really love milling over winter here in Wisconsin. I run a more manual sawmilling so moving around while milling keeps you warm. Flatten a big chunk of white oak for a table top. When I have to plane slabs or material wider than our 25" planer, I always end up making a quick router planer table. I made the router sled and always keep that around but for the flattening table, I just whip something up. Some people overcomplicate this process when you can just make something simple and cheap. What do you see??? I've had this set of slabs on my online shop for a while now and honestly, kind of surprised this set hasn't sold yet. I've debated about turning this set of slabs into a finished product but really don't have the means to store it while I wait for it to sell. All the woodworking I do is custom orders. This set could be used as a tabletop but honestly, I feel it would more appropriate to use as wall art in your home or in a church or in your business. This was a fun job I did September 2024. I had to face a couple years that I overcame during this project. One being heights beyond my comfort, and two, using a hydraulic lift. I've never been a fan of hydraulic lifts just simply because things can happen outside of your control and that's uneasy for me, especially since I did this job by myself. My parents came and helped for a couple days with clean up but other than that, I was on my own. All in all, I absolutely loved doing this job and had a lot of fun!
