FAMILY-STYLE FRENCH ONION SOUP 🧅🧀🥖 I thought I’d reshare our favorite cozy dinner recipe since there is a huge cold front coming this week across the USA… we even got a few flurries today in Tennessee! ❄️ I grew up in a big family, and both of my parents really love to cook! My dad came up with this way to make French onion soup to feed a crowd, and it’s still the way I make it now! It’s all made in one pot, and its actually really easy to make - you just need some time! This is the perfect cozy dinner to make on a fall night 🍂😊 This recipe serves about 4 people (I usually serve it with steak or chicken). If you want to double it you can pour the soup into a casserole dish, then add the bread + cheese and bake it. Ingredients: - 6 sweet white or vidalia onions - 1 tbsp butter - 1 tsp brown sugar - Salt + pepper to taste - 2 tbsp all purpose flour - 32 oz beef broth - 3 large pieces of crusty white bread (sourdough, baguette, etc) - 4 oz gruyere cheese How to: - Slice the onions in half then into thin half-moon slices. - Melt the butter in a big oven-safe pot or dutch oven over medium heat. - Add the onions and cook down, stirring every few minutes until they start to turn a golden color. - Add the brown sugar, salt and pepper and stir to combine. Cook for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally until the onions are soft and a deep golden color. - Add the flour and stir to combine for about 1 minute. - Add the broth and stir to combine, then let the soup simmer for about 15 minutes while you prep the topping. Be sure to taste the soup and add extra salt + pepper if needed! - If your bread is soft (not stale) lightly toast it then slice into bite-sized cubes. Shed the gruyere cheese. - Turn your oven on to broil. - Arrange the bread cubes on top of the soup, then top with shredded cheese. - Carefully put in the oven for 3-5 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. - Let cool for 5 minutes then serve into bowls and enjoy! 🫶 #frenchonionsoup #souprecipe #fallrecipe #cooking #dinneridea #healthyrecipes #EasyRecipes #soup

Merry Christmas Eve!! Mini apple pie recipe🍎🥧::: For the crust: - Pinch of salt - 2.5 cups all purpose flour (302 grams) - 1 cup cold butter (227g) - 6 tablespoons ice water (90 g) For the filling: - 2 tablespoons butter unsalted - 1 Granny Smith apple - 1 honey crisp apple - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar - 3 tablespoons brown sugar - 1/2 tsp cinnamon - 1/4 tsp all spice - 1/4 tsp ground cloves - 1/2 tsp nutmeg - 1 tablespoon lemon juice - 1-1 1/2 tablespoons all purpose flour Extras: Egg wash (1 egg whisked) Cinnamon sugar Directions: 1. Mix together flour and salt 2. Add COLD butter and cut the butter into the flour. The preferred method is using a pastry cutter. Do not use your hands. The goal is to keep it very very cold, using your hands will introduce your body heat, we don’t need that. 3. When the butter and flour are cut together enough and look like a coarse flour, slowly add ice water in and fold in until it is just wet enough to press into a dough ball 4. Press into dough ball, divide it if you want to 5. Wrap in Saran Wrap and put in fridge for 3-6 hours, or overnight 6. Start on filling 7. Dice apples into small pieces 8. Add butter to pot on medium low heat, let it melt 9. Add apples and stir in for 3-4 minutes 10. Add seasonings and stir in for an additional 2 minutes 11. Turn off heat and quickly add flour 12. Stir in flour, the mixture should thicken almost immediately 13. Put mixture in the fridge to cool 14. When dough is chilled, flour a surface and roll out dough 15. Cut out circles, an even amount, one for the top and one for the bottom 16. Put the bottom part on a baking sheet with parchment paper, add filling, and place the top part on top 17. Close with fork around the edges 18. Cut at least 1 line in the top for pressure escape, or do a design 19. Brush with egg wash 20. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar 21. Bake at 420°F for 12-15 min or until golden brown #Recipe #winterdessert #winterrecipe #falldessert #fallrecipe #christmasrecipe #christmas#CapCut
