This early life trauma of neglect or emotional mistreatment may lead one to busy themselves to distract from and cope with past pain so they are too busy to vet their partner โค๏ธโ๐ฉน I started using characters to demonstrate family dynamics because in psychiatry, classifying characteristics by problematic traits is how professionals are able to tailor treatments.๐ฅธ๐ญ The Narc parent is often paired with the passive parent and the Narc Parent often has a favorite child and a less fortunate child that is neglected. The Narc parent is often competitive and jealous. These behaviors are often learned from previous generations! Do you see why family systems and dynamics are important? ๐ค Itโs also important to classify certain interpersonal dynamics so that people can understand how traits play out in real life. For example, having narc parents makes you more likely to seek out relationships with narc individuals.โค๏ธโ๐ฉน Being in competitive sibling relationships is usually related to narc parents who encourage praising and devaluing. ๐ง๐ฝ ๐ฆ๐ป When people understand family systems they are able to understand repetitive themes in their own lives. ๐งโ๐งโ๐งโ๐ง Do you see your family here? Family time together could be stressful ๐ฃ Sometimes parents treat their children differently and it is not due to favoritism. ๐งโ๐งโ๐ง Some parents are afraid of a childโs tantrums and outbursts. Rather than addressing these issues directly, they appease the child in hopes that the child will mature and outgrow this behavior. ๐ก This may lead to the sibling feeling that this feared child is a favorite. The dynamic in the family shifts so that the feared child holds the power and drives the decisions.
