I almost left education in 2021; thank you to my current administration for being the reason I didn’t. For the teachers twho are doubting their worth. For the teachers who are wondering if good districts and administration exist…they do. Moving into a district that recognized my strengths, even when I didn’t, has been life-changing. They have fed me and are the reason I feel empowered to further my education in the near future. I have hesitated to share this because I know there is a lot of romanticizing in our profession, which can be harmful. I also don’t hold any ill will toward my past administration for anything said to me during my time there, and recognize that they also experienced a lot of pressure from community members and superiors. That doesn’t excuse their behavior, but I feel many of them have grown in the time between then and now.
