I don’t know about you guys but when my clients ask for a traditional highlight (meaning no root smudge) it’s because they like a more natural and organic look than a dark root gives but they don’t mind the maintenance that comes with it. Here are some of my favorite pointers for a regular old highlight: 1- I know those fine symmetrical foil pulls and brush outs are aesthetic but it doesn’t hurt to throw in some different sized highlights and different sized drop outs throughout the hair to keep it from looking too manufactured. 2- Fine pieces lift the brightest but leave behind the least amount of impact. Thicker weaves take longer to lift but leave behind the most impact. I like to use this to my advantage. I go for the thicker weaves in the back and underneath for the most impact and a faster application and then switch to my finer pieces up front. If I need more impact on top or in front then I’ll put fine slices back to back like I do in the face frame. This keeps everything processing at the same time along with switching out lighteners and developers throughout the process. 3. Find a lightener that acts like a glue to prevent bleeders. I love Blondorplex and now Blonde Solutions for their thicker consistency in the back and on the mohawk. I then typically switch to something stronger for the sides so they can catch up. This full tutorial is going up tomorrow for Instagram subscribers 💜 (I might start a tik tok one too if it’s going to be around for a minute) #behindthechair #blondesolutions #foilme #blondehighlights #arizona
