📌NOT EVERYONE KNOWS : It's ok to learn something new everyday. If you didn't know you do now . The original model of the Statue of Liberty had an African American face that was Given to us by France to pay homage to the slaves whom were brought here by force. The original was refused by America, But was Europeanized because the people of the United States did not want a African American face sitting up there on the harbor so they carved it out in France they had to go back to the drawing board and remodeled the face after patron saint of manifest destiny . This statue was made in 1848, and was from Gold Coast . not everyone knows this because we weren't taught this in school in fact the only statue most know is the newer version of the Statue of Liberty. When the French artist created the statue of Liberty it was suppose to represent the end of slavery . On the original model there were chains on the hands and feet as we know. When the statue got to America they wanted to erase ANY references of slavery from the statue but the artists really fought to keep the chains on there .. so not only have they been trying to get of us slowly we can't even have a statue for OURSELVES because they feel the need to take everything we have…. and all because they think they have the "power" to do so they do it when they do not . #BlackHistoryMonth #blackhistory365 #blackhistorytiktok #blackhistoryfacts #BlackTikTok #queenleo37 #friendsnotfans

Everyone has heard of Black Wall Street.Meet the founder, O.W. Gurley.In 1905 Gurley and his wife sold their property in Noble County and moved 80 miles to the oil boom town of Tulsa. Gurley purchased 40 acres of land in North Tulsa and established his first business, a rooming house on a dusty road that would become Greenwood Avenue. He subdivided his plot into residential and commercial lots and eventually opened a grocery store. As the community grew around him, Gurley prospered. Between 1910 and 1920, the Black population in the area he had purchased grew from 2,000 to nearly 9,000 in a city with a total population of 72,000. The Black community had a large working-class population as well as doctors, lawyers, and other professionals who provided services to them. Soon the Greenwood section was dubbed “Negro Wall Street” by Tuskegee educator Booker T. Washington. Greenwood, now called Black Wall Street, was nearly self-sufficient with Black-owned businesses, many initially financed by Gurley, ranging from brickyards and theaters to a chartered airplane company. Gurley built the Gurley Hotel at 112 N. Greenwood and rented out spaces to smaller businesses. His other properties included a two-story building at 119 N. Greenwood, which housed the Masonic Lodge and a Black employment agency. Born into slavery sometime between 1818-1826 in Natchez, Mississippi, Elizabeth Taylor Greenfield had little reason to dream of the life that would eventually become her own. Because of a series of unlikely circumstances and her own relentless efforts she would eventually become known as the first African American singer to gain recognition in both Europe and the United States. Elizabeth Taylor Greenfield was called "the Black Swan" because of the elegance of her voice and grace of her presence. Born a slave in Natchez, MS, she was freed when her mistress joined the Society of Friends, which was anti-slavery. Elizabeth began studying music in 1846 and in 1854, she became the first African American singer to perform for Britain's royal family.
