The other day, we worked on spinning back kicks, and I shared my preference for not dropping the spinning leg kick foot down. I like to control my position instead. While some argue it's okay to drop the foot for follow-up kicks like the side thrust, I find it challenging in full contact. If I do put my foot down, I want to quickly switch to another attack, like a knee or another kick. After a spinning back kick, you can be vulnerable when turning your back, as opponents can easily move away or jam you. Although there are risks when spinning, landing the kick can yield high rewards. #MartialArts #SpinningBackKick #Control #FullContact #SelfDefense #Training #Kyokushin #Technique #thephoenixway
Translating a karate counterattack into kickboxing! 🥋➡️🥊 This block actually comes from karate and is called the “inside palm block” or uchi-uke (内受け) in Japanese—very similar to a parry block. 👊 Drill: 🔸 Opponent throws a cross: Use the uchi-uke (inside palm block) followed by jab, cross, jab, and roundhouse kick (mawashi geri). 🔸 Opponent throws a jab: Use the uchi-uke (inside palm block) followed by cross, jab, cross, and roundhouse kick (mawashi geri). This proves karate is useful for full-contact fighting when applied the correct way. 🥋💥 Let’s keep Making Karate Great Again! 👊🔥 #MKGA #martialarts #karate #kickboxing #mma #muaythai #martialartist #striking #fullcontact #combatsports #karatetraining #kickboxingtraining #karatelife #karatelifestyle #kickboxers #mmafighter #muaythaitraining #selfdefense #fighttraining #karatedojo #karateka #fitnessmotivation #martialartscommunity #strikingtechniques #traditionalmartialarts #karateforkickboxing
