2025 bookish goals! For 2025, I have several reading goals that I’m looking to accomplish! NetGalley reads: Currently I have 117 books on my NetGalley shelf needing to be read and reviewed! 😆 My goal is to make that number go lower to improve my overall reading percentage there! -My bookshelves are filled to the brim with unread physical books and my goal is to reduce that number majorly to make more room for the books setting in piles on my dressers! 🤪 As hard as it’ll be, my goal is to reduce the number of books I buy for the meantime to meet that goal. And then pass on any that I enjoyed but will not reread to others to enjoy! 🥰 -If you know me well, you know that I love Robin Williams and am a big fan of his film Dead Poet’s Society. During a recent re-watch of this movie, I felt inspired to read more poetry on my own time. -Earlier in 2024, I watched the 2013 adaption of The Great Gatsby and LOVED it! I attempted to read the book version of it from Libby but my hold ran out before I had time to finish it. This has led me to wanting to read more classic books such as this one to explore different writing styles, themes, etc of different books from various periods of time. And at a point in my life where I pick what books to read, not what I’m told to read such as was the case for us all when we were in school! 😜 -One of my really good friends and I attended an author event last August at Magers & Quinn and this was such a fun experience for me! It was also my first time attending an author event and getting to hear the behind the scenes of what went into writing the book and such! I hope to attend more panels in 2025! -Finally, I’ve made some incredible friendships on here on Bookstagram and cannot wait to continue making memories with the friends I’ve met on here with some fun bookish events to come in 2025! I’m especially looking forward to a book festival event taking place on January 11th, seeing Brynn Weaver and Abby Jiminez in February, and more! Happy New Year everyone! #BookTok #booktoker #bookish #newyears #newyearsbookishresolutions #2025 #readersoftiktok #gadgetgirlbooks

This book was quite the book to end 2024 with! I don’t even know where to start. From the first page, I was immediately hooked wondering where the story was going to go. This book had everything you could ask for from a thriller: suspense, mystery, creepy vibes, questionable characters, spooky setting, etc. This book had so much going on, leaving breadcrumbs everywhere from start to finish but still making you wonder what the heck is going on. By the end of the book, I wondered what in the world I had read and now feel like I need to reread it in the future to look at some of the previous scenes in the book and how they relate to the bigger, overall picture. This book was the author’s debut novel and I can’t wait to see what else he writes in the future! Have you ever stayed or lived in a spooky house? Synopsis: A young queer couple, Eve and Charlie, believe they’ve scored the deal of a lifetime when they purchase an old home in rural Portland, Oregon that they plan to renovate. Soon after moving in, a mysterious family appears on their doorsteps asking to come in. The father of the family claims he used to live at the home and asks Eve if he can show his family around. As soon as Eve lets them in, strange things begin to happen. What seems explainable becomes unexplainable. And worse yet, the family does not seem to want to leave. When Eve starts seeing mysterious shadow creatures, things that she swears were there that suddenly aren’t, Eve begins to question the family and the reality she’s living in. #BookTok #booktoker #bookish #bookreview #thriller #marcuskliewer #spooky #creepyvibes #readersofbooktok #readersoftiktok #gadgetgirlbooks @Marcus Kliewer
