Checking in on our smallest gator at the sanctuary, Tadpole! Tadpole is missing her tail, likely from a predator as a hatchling. Alligators rely on their tails for swimming, so without one life is very difficult in the wild and itâs very rare to see one survive to adulthood in the wild with this injury. Thankfully, tadpole has a great life here at the sanctuary! As this little gator grows by the month, a prosthetic tail would NOT make sense, youâd have to replace it for $6k every other month. My outside research says their taste is very basic and not impressive, but my personal experience has shown me it is much more powerful than what most would think or what I have read!
