🔊 On! Beau's been a gelding all of 8 days and he had a nice to a new barn right after his stay at the vet clinic. I've been taking him all over the property making sure he can see his new place and gain confidence. It has dogs and lots of horses and trailers coming and going. It's alot of activity. He's used to quieter barns so that alone is a big adjustment for him. Today, one of the activities at the barn was roofing! It was also a little cooler and breezy. I decided to take Beau over by where the roofers were and just walk him around, and then they let me know they were gunna start being loud. I was like, ok I will use this as a learning opportunity! They called out before each loud noise, which was super helpful and I was very thankful. That let me do this in a safer more controlled way. I also tried to keep a distance far enough from the roofing that Beau wouldn't feel like he was trapped into something. I didn't mind if he moved, I just didn't want him to be rushing around. I loved that he found moments to calm and eat grass between sounds. That's a great sign. Beau was a super star, imo! He really did stay composed. This wouldn't be easy for any horse. Let alone one just gelded at a new barn!
